This is the latest available 2019 road map database for Audi MMI 3G High HDD Navigation systems. This update can be installed in the comfort of your own home in approximately 1-2 hours, no dealer interventions required and installation instructions can be found below.

This also includes a firmware update.

You can check your current firmware and database version by going into Setup -> Settings -> Version Information. This will update your navigation database and system firmware to the following versions:

  • Software Version: HNav_EU_K0257_6_D2
  • Nav. database version: 8R0060884GA ECE 6.28.2

MMI 3G High HDD navigation systems can be identified by checking the MMI software version, you can do this by going into Setup -> Settings -> Version information. Software versions always begin with HNav, please see an example below:

  • HNav_EU_XXXXX_X_XX

[HOW TO] Audi MMI 3G High Navigation & Firmware Update

This is a tutorial on how to update the software version and navigation database version on Audi MMI 3G High systems.

Prerequisites -

  • Connect your car with a battery charger OR leave the engine running during the update procedure.
  • Switch off the headlights, seat heating and climate control system.
  • Remove all SD Cards/CD’s/DVD’s from the MMI system before beginning.
  • Turn the ignition on, and let the MMI system initialise for 1-2 minutes before beginning.
  • Do not remove the SD card or DVD from the MMI system during the update.
  • If your current firmware version is "3G_DAB_K0098" it does not need to be updated. You can skip the software version upgrade instructions.
  • If your current firmware version is below "HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1" it must be updated.
  • Read the complete guide before you start.

WARNING: DO NOT use update files downloaded off the internet, Audi updates MUST be modified depending on the equipment fitted to the car. You will lose all audio if an incorrect update is applied to the car. All of our update packages are tailored to your car specifically to prevent any chance of failure.

Updating the Software Version -

  1. Enter the Engineering Menu by pressing the SETUP button and immediately after that the RETURN button. Hold both buttons down for a few seconds. 
  2. Insert the Firmware Update DVD into the DVD slot on the dashboard and wait 2 minutes.
  3. Select the “Update” option on the MMI by pressing the bottom right selection button around the central control knob.
  4. Select “CD/DVD” as the source by pressing down on the central control knob.
  5. Select the firmware update by pressing down on the central control knob.
  6. Select “Standard”.
  7. You will see a list with all the categories that the firmware will update. Scroll down to the bottom and select “Start download” .
  8. Select “Start”.
  9. After several minutes/hours (it depends on what needs to be updated) the firmware update will be completed. The system may reboot several times. Once the system reboots, the MMI will display the update progress of various devices. This is carried out automatically and does not require you to take any action.
  10. Once the update is complete, a “Device Summary” screen will appear. Scroll down to the bottom and select “Continue”. 
  11. Select “Abort Documentation”. The system will reboot one final time. The update is now complete.
  12. In order to proceed with updating the map database, it must be confirmed that the firmware has been updated successfully to the latest version. To verify this please allow the MMI system to initialise for 5 minutes. Now go into “Setup MMI”, scroll down to the bottom and select “Version information”. The software version should now be “HNav_EU_K0257_6_D1”.

Updating the Nav. Database version -

  1. Please remove the firmware update DVD from the car.
  2. Enter the Engineering Menu by pressing the SETUP button and immediately after that the RETURN button. Hold both buttons down for a few seconds. 
  3. Insert the Navigation Update SD Card into SD card slot 1 on the dashboard and wait 2 minutes.
  4. Select “Update” option on the MMI by pressing the bottom right selection button around the central control knob.
  5. Select “SD 1” as the source and press down on the central control knob.
  6. Select the Navigation Update by pressing down on the central control knob.
  7. Select “Standard”.
  8. You will see a list with all the categories that the navigation database will update. Scroll down to the bottom and select “Start download” .
  9. Select “Start”.
  10. After several minutes/hours (it depends on what needs to be updated) the navigation update will be completed. The system may reboot several times.   13. In order to proceed in activating the map database, it must be confirmed that the navigation database has been updated successfully to the latest version. To verify this please allow the MMI system to initialise for 5 minutes. Now go into “Setup MMI”, scroll down to the bottom and select “Version information”. The Nav. Database version should now be “8R0060884GA ECE 6.28.2”. If the map database has not been updated to “8R0060884GA ECE 6.28.2” or is blank please switch the car off for 1 hour and check again. Activating the map database -

  1. Please remove the Navigation Update SD card from the car.
  2. Insert the activation SD card into SD card slot 1 and wait 15-30 seconds.
  3. Press down on the central control knob once and then remove the SD card.
  4. Wait 1 minute
  5. Perform a system reboot by pressing the SETUP button, CENTRAL CONTROL KNOB and UPPER RIGHT SELECTION BUTTON simultaneously. The screen will go black as you lift your fingers off the buttons and the system will restart.
  6. The activation is now complete.

WARNING: the activator we supply is a one time use FSC code. It becomes married to your cars VIN number upon installation. DO NOT attempt to use the activator in more than one vehicle. Doing so WILL cause the system to enter component protection mode. You have been warned!

Please note that it may be necessary to take the car for a short drive post install to calibrate the navigation system
